You know, we've all heard it so many times... "I'm just too busy to go around helping people out." or....."I don't know those people." or......... "I can't do anything to make this world a better place, so I'm not going to worry about it." Ummm.......ok, but if you really want some ideas on things that even the busiest person in the world can do to make the world a better place, here's 34 of them.
1. Something good happened today. Make a list of three good things that happened to you today and reflect on them. Just putting that positive energy out there makes the world a little better. Then, help someone else do the same.
2. Help a little kid do something.
3. Make a list of everything that you are good at and then see where those talents can be applied.
4. Help someone everyday. This can be as simple as holding a door open for an elderly woman.
5. Compliment someone.
6. Shut down someone that is making negative remarks about someone else, and then wish them peace.
7. Remember that if you are a good person, then you are also a leader. Lead by example.
8. Do little things that help the environment:
a.) Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
b.) Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.
c.) Pick up a piece of trash that someone else left laying around.
9. Notice someone that everyone else ignores and say hello to them.
10. Don't gossip.
11. Adopt a school, library, or other institution.
12. Respect your body.
13. Set aside spare change for charity.
14. Don't be overly critical.
15. Take responsibility for your own actions. Say "I'm sorry" "I was wrong" "Thank you."
16. Don't complain about something, do something to fix it!
17. Listen to someone.
18. Make a list of everything that you wish you could do better and think of one way that you could help yourself get better at those things. Then help someone else do the same.
19. Be kind to animals.
20. Talk to people.
21. Call/write an elderly person or a long-lost friend.
22. Be on time, or here's an idea.....be early!
23. Donate unneeded things.
24. Write a letter to your government about something that is concerning you.
25. Keep a promise.
26. Refuse to "cover up" or lie for someone else.
27. Be a designated driver.
28. Say No to something that you think is wrong.
29. Forgive someone.
30. Ask someone about them self.
31. Volunteer at an institution you find worthwhile.
32. Make a list of your fears and trace down the source of those fears, then help someone else do the same.
33. Read the newspaper or watch the news.
34. Learn a new language or study up on a different culture.
