I wrote this up last May for an assignment at the JRA. I went back and looked through some of my old stuff over there... I know that there are some things that I would add, and some things that I would delete, and there are some things that I would just "modify."
But, what would you say to the question: "What is a Jedi?"
I can only tell you what a Jedi is to me. A Jedi is a person that strives for perfection. They embrace the philosophies and ideals of many great religions and apply those in their daily lives to reach new levels of enlightenment. They seek truth, justice, balance and peace. They protect and defend others. They guide those that are lost. They heal those that are sick and save those that others have left behind to die. A Jedi can be a leader of men, but knows when to follow. A Jedi shows humility in all that they do and never lusts after power or material treasures. A Jedi is disciplined and temperate and does not indulge in excess. A Jedi shows respect for all Life. A Jedi's duty is to the Will of the Force, to others, and to Justice. A Jedi is patient, calm, and at peace with his/her surroundings. A Jedi is willing to give of themselves for the good of others. A Jedi may have unique talents that others may not have, but a Jedi does not show or use these talents to gain noteriety or followers. A Jedi has no need for such things. A Jedi recognizes where the term "Jedi" was born and acknowledges its creator for giving such a noble title to a Way of Life that may, in fact, be the conjunction of everything mankind has ever dreamed of becoming.
