My son taught me this.
If you ever feel like you need to "calm down", or your mind is just going ninety-to-nothing and you can't stop it, then try this breathing technique. It calms your energies and re-balances your mind.
Hold your hand out in front of you.
Spread your fingers out so that they are not touching and there is adequate space between them.
Imagine that they are candles burning at the fingertips.
Now, breathe in a slow, deep breath while saying something such as "Peace", "Slow", or "Balance".
When you breathe out, blow one of the "candles" out very softly.
Only let your breath touch one of the "candles". If your breath does touch another "candle", start again with the first finger.
Once you have blown out all of your "candles", you will feel much more relaxed and will have gotten your balance back again.
