We have come to accept that we are beings of energy, and that in itself makes all of us sacred. We are a part of the Force.
We all have the ability to heal... others and ourselves. Fulfilling this responsibility is a lot simpler than you would first think possible. Before we can heal others, we must heal ourselves. We often overlook the fact that the only way to change the world is to change ourselves first; one person at a time. To the rest of the world, we present ourselves as respectful and caring. We treat others as we'd like to be treated. But, inside, we're really torn up and scarred with everything from stereotypes to every mean and cruel thing that everyone has ever said to us. These are literally eating away at us while we hide it from the world.
We concern ourselves far to much with how others see us and not enough with how we see ourselves. We judge ourselves far greater than we realize and direct these negative energies inward much more than outward. Often we find ourselves treating our enemies better than we treat ourselves. Think about some of the things that you may often find that you say to yourself - "I'm fat", "I'm ugly", "I'm stupid", etc. Would you ever walk up to someone on the street and tell them that? Most people wouldn't. (If you would, you might as well stop reading here and get some professional help.)
If you do this to yourself, it must make you wonder why another person deserves more respect than you give yourself. You are just as much a part of the Force as everyone else, and you deserve the same respect that you give them.
It's been said that the true measure of a person is how they act when no one is looking. When it's just ourselves and the Force, there are no excuses. We have the freedom to choose our actions, and with that freedom comes responsibility to treat ourselves as equals to everyone else. We must look within ourselves for the source of our problems and choose how to remedy them.
Negative situations are always bound to appear in our lives. Most of the time we aren't the cause of them, but we do choose how we react to them. This means that we are not the victims that we are raised to believe that we are. We are responsible for our own actions, and the reaction to a negative situation is still an action that we chose to make.
You can choose to remain a victim, to act out of vengence or run and hide. Or, you can choose to stand up. Only we can decide how these situations affect us. No matter what action we take, we must remember to find the lessons that are hidden within our own pain. Nothing happens without a purpose, even if all we learn is to not make the same mistake twice.
