Empress Palpatine I saw the three links. They were pretty funny. I liked the coffee spill. Good spoof. Black water by Steve Goodie was the best. ;D The protesting Grannies were good as well. This was more serious since they are really protesting. Go Grannies Go! You tell them!!!

Those were great! thanks for posting them.
Now, as a note of interest, here's a nearly complete list of things we use that are made from petroleum products, either whole or in part (just so we don't beat up so badly on all those poor soccer moms and their SUV's).

I do not think we can end oil use 100%, but I do think we can reduce use. Most of it is used to power electric plants and cars. If we could replace gas using cars with electric and use solar or wind for electricity, we would not have to drill so excessively as we do now.
BP was careless when they drilled that well. Their equipment was not in full working order when they dug, and so they had an accident. There needs to be better regulation.

I agree completely. Personally, except for all my little plastic storage containers, I could learn to live without oil quite nicely. Well, at least once we get the wood stove in (elsewise we heat with a kerosene ). Solar and wind would be helpful in some places, but it's less useful in others. Nukes are actually very safe and clean as long as we don't use old Russian nuke plants . Of course, they'd need to make cars that actually can go someplace further than across a mid-sized city without being recharged. (Right now, we'd have to have two hybrids for my husband to get to work. ) But I think we're working toward it with more industriousness than a lot of people know.
