Astral Surgery:
One other technique that many healers use when performing either a distance healing, or an in-person healing, is astral surgery. This sounds much worse than what the term actually implies. Astral surgery is the ability of the healer to “see” inside of the ailment, often into the physical body, and correct the problem using “astral tools.” The healer may construct the image of a scalpel to remove a growth of some sort. They may construct “glue” to mend a broken bone. They may even construct biological “band-aids” to mend things like ulcers. Another version of “astral surgery” is to see the make up of the receiver’s chakras, visualize them realigning, and even scrubbing them out if they seem dirty or clogged up in any way. This is entirely up to the individual healer and anything can be used. It is only important that the right intent is being used and that the highest possible outcome for the receiver is kept in mind.
Gyoshi Ho- Healing With The Eyes
This technique is taught at the Okuden level, as well. It may sound a bit strange to some, but this is actually a very effective and natural technique that is used by more people than are actually aware that they are doing it. Think of a mother with a sick child that constantly stares at her sleeping baby that is suffering from fever. Do you think that she is just looking at the child because she believes the child to be that interesting? Possibly, but she may also be thinking of all of the ways that she may be able to help that child, and of how much she wants that child to be better soon. By doing this, the mother is actually placing her intent with her will and sending the child healing energy through her eyes.
Think of the eyes, in this case, as lasers.
Basically, all that a healer must do in order to perform an “eye healing” is to focus completely on the ailment at hand. They must carefully align their intent and will power before sending this energy. However, the healer must also reach a state where they are “there but not there.” In a sense, what the healer must do is place themselves in that energetic state that exists between normal consciousness and trance-state. Then, the healer draws on the Force, collects it into the Tan Tien, and sends the energy up through their body and out through the eyes, allowing for the energy to “beam” from them to the receiver. It is suggested that the healer not “glare” at the person receiving the energy, but instead, take a detached vision of the receiver, which is accomplished by the energetic state that the healer placed themselves in before sending the Reiki through the eyes.
Sometimes, a healer will find themselves with multiple requests for healing, and there is just no way that one healer can handle all of the requests. One way to handle this situation is to form a Reiki grid.
To create a Reiki grid:
1. Create a list of names of all of the people that have requested healing.
2. Place this list in a circle of crystals/stones, or arrange them into any other shape that is comfortable.
3. Place the symbols of the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, Cho Ku Rei, and the Sei Hei Ki into each of the crystals.
4. Over the entire set-up, place the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, and state each of the recipient’s names aloud.
5. State the intent of the procedure, and then let the energy flow from this grid into the recipients. *Note: Takata suggested conscious healing, but no more then three in succession (3 = one session), then take a break.

Color Therapy
Also involved in the Reiki II level teachings is color therapy. While the Force is always used with energy work, it is important to remember that it is we that manipulate it and mold it to suit our own interests. The same is true for Reiki-Color healing. The only difference between a normal Reiki session and Color Therapy is that the healer consciously changes the feel, texture, and quality of the Force/Reiki energy that is channeling through them to the receiver. Having said that, it should be apparent that when using Color Therapy, the healer must have a basic idea of what the physical ailment of the receiver is, and not just go off of the assumption that the receiver is not feeling well, and so could use some Reiki. Color Therapy is very specific, and each color acts in a certain way. Some colors are better for physical pain, while others are better for mental anguish. While the healer should try to direct the energy to the appropriate chakra, it is not totally necessary to do so. One can also direct the energy to the person's energy field and the healing force will direct itself from there. So, when thinking that Color Therapy would be useful, please keep in mind the needs of the receiver, and the potential risks and rewards that each color can provide.
The following is a "color suggestion" that can be used in any type of "hands-on-healing". You do not have to be a Reiki Healer, Shaman, or have any other title or attunement. Below, you will find a specific color and various diseases/disorders that can be treated using that color.
Red- Depression, lack of energy, feeling ungrounded/spacey, low blood pressure, bladder infections, shock, poor circulation, impotence, back pain, or pain in legs and feet, blood disorders, manipulative tendencies, being overly cautious, possessive, or power hungry, the obsessive need for approval, excitement-craving, and weight problems, reducing cramping, general pain, growth of cancers, and drying sores, cuts and abrasions.
Orange- Kidney problems, constipation, muscle cramps and/or spasms, lack of energy, insufficient lactation in nursing mothers, skin problems, allergies and inhibitions/repressions.
Yellow- Digestive disorders, "gas", food allergies, liver disorders, Diabetes, hypoglycemia, hypothyroid, gallstones, muscle cramps, nervous disorders, depression, exhaustion, breathing difficulties, lymphatic problems, dispelling fears and bone-strengthening.
***Note: The three colors above are all very similar. Red is for the most severe, Orange is moderate, and yellow is for mild symptoms***
Green- Heart and lung ailments, high blood pressure, negativity, fatigue, breathing difficulties, tension, insomnia, anger, paranoia, to bolster the immune system, soothing the spirit/nerves, loneliness, to achieve harmony/balance, emotional stability, easing a fear/phobia, thymus and lymph glands, Bipolar disorder, when one is not able to feel compassion, financial and material instability, jealousy, doubt, the habit of blaming others, being overly demanding and critical.
***When one of the symptoms being treated is mental, following up with pink or rose is advisable.
Blue- Arrogance, gossip, being self-absorbed, tentativeness, when one cannot express thoughts, opinions, or feelings, lack of creativity, when one is clinging to outdated traditions/dogma when it is causing harm to do so, Hyperthyroid, sore throats, inflammations, burns, skin irritation, fever, ear ailments and infections, overly tired, mental exhaustion, gum inflammation, ulcers, digestive disorders, colic, back pain, nervousness, high blood pressure, migraines, general headaches, hyperactivity, ADHD, violent behavior.
***Blue is especially effective with children***
Purple/Indigo- Egomania, pride, manipulation, dogmatic rhetorical thinking, bitterness, being ungrateful, "coldness", non-assertive behavior, undisciplined, overly-sensitive reactions, pain, diarrhea, eye and nose disorders, psychic exhaustion, promoting inspiration, to release negative habits, superstitious behavior, memory booster, becoming doubtful and pessimistic, and feeling "out of it".
White or Clear- Destructive behavior, alcoholism, balancing A-type personalities, overly erotic imagination, inability to make decisions, catatonic states, feeding off of sympathy, compassion, charity of others, feeling misunderstood, to achieve clarity, feeling shame, having a negative self image, the inability to accept those around you for who they are, calming the emotions, menstrual pain, ovarian, uterine problems migraines, insomnia, inability to relax, dandruff and scalp disorders.
***While white and clear can be used for anything, it is still advisable to use a certain color as specific colors are more in agreement with certain ailments***
Another situation that occurs with those at the Okuden level is the process of group healings. This is a very powerful event, and all healers should participate in group healings if offered the opportunity. Group healings are done for a variety of reasons, but some of these may be that more energy is required for a healing session to be effective than can be channeled by an individual healer, a person may wish to have many people there for comfort, or a group may wish to draw on individual talents of each healer for a specific purpose that is connected to the receiver. This is especially true for emotional blocks, or ailments occurring due to repressed traumatic events.
*note: In the event that there are so many healers that not all can fit around the receiver, the healers should stack themselves, one behind the other, and send the energy through the healer in front of them.
To Perform A Group Healing:
The healers will take their positions. One should be at the head, which is the “director” position, and this person will coordinate the healing session. Another should be at the chest level, one should be at the stomach, someone should also have each leg, placing their hands over the knees, and there always needs to be a “foot” person. It is usually the most experienced person that is left at the “foot” position because this is the position that draws the energy down, and informs the other healers of any blocks or misdirection in the energy flow. Also, the one located at the foot position should be wary of the outflow of energy that will come from the soles of the feet and should position themselves out of the way of the current, so as not to get “bogged down” by anything that is released.
Now, the healer at the head position will nod and all healers will place their hands in the appropriate positions. As each healer completes their part in the session, they will give a “nod” to the “head” position healer who will acknowledge this, and the healer will either exchange places with the next healer behind them, if the healers have been stacked, or they will simply wait for the other healers to complete their session, while allowing the Reiki to continue to flow naturally.
The receiver will then turn over and the entire process is repeated. It is very important that after the final “nod” from the directing healer at the head position that all energy is grounded out at the foot position or the receiver will be left feeling extremely dizzy and disoriented due to the very extensive energy transfer.
I would like to introduce a final symbol here. It is often a cause for debate, as this symbol is mainly for use in the attunement process to separate the energies of the Reiki Master from the one receiving the attunement. This symbol was not used by Mrs. Takata , so many refuse to use this symbol at all. However, most healers are empaths and tend to pick up on all sorts of energetic disturbances and thoughts and feelings of others. The symbol that I will present here is the Raku. The Raku can be used, as a mental construct, or be drawn into the air, to separate the empathy from the energies around them. In a sense, the Raku is like a sword that cuts through the connections that are made throughout our daily lives. In this, I do not mean that it disconnects all connections from people, situations, or places, but that it can be used to separate your own feelings about such things from those around you. It is also used to separate the healer from the student after doing an attunement.
This is the Raku: Let it be known that Raku is NOT Usui Reiki. It is possible that it is part of Raku Kei Reiki, a so called Tibetan Reiki modality developed by Arthur Robertson (Former student of Iris Ishikuru, one of Takata’s 22 masters.)
The most important part of Reiki II is not the information that is presented in this manual, as every tradition is different, and there are so many varieties of ways to heal the self and others. What is important is that the healer learns to access, store, and use the Force for those that need healing. Furthermore, a great responsibility is placed on the shoulders of those in Reiki II, and that responsibility is not to the self, but to those that are less fortunate, the healing of the Earth and the Universe, and to those that are lost in the ways of darkness.
Everything that has been learned in Reiki I and II is ever-pressing the healer on to Reiki III, which is the Master/Teaching Level. In Reiki III, Shinpiden, the healer will receive the final symbol and will be able to pass attunements on to their own students.
