Empress Palpatine That is very funny. I love the steering wheel.

I'd need a bigger desk for that sweet model. ... For a similar model, check out a 1957 Hepburn/Tracy flick called "Desk Set," if you haven't already. Very cute.

Empress Palpatine That is very funny. I love the steering wheel. I guess they figured you needed to steer your way down the information superhighway!

Ha Ha ... if they thought that far ahead. .. At that point, the information superhighway wasn't even a back country dirt track. ... Things change so very quickly these days.

Heh. I posted that picture on Brass Goggles about a year ago. It's pretty funny, but in fact it's a composite...i.e., a fake. Purported to have been late fifties, it is actually the auxilary control room of a sixties era submarine, with a CRT "monitor" and an IBM Selectric keyboard photoshopped in. Doesn't detract from the "clever" factor one iota, though-nor does fail to "realistically" portray pretty much exactly what IBM execs probably thought a computer of the future would look like...keeping in mind that the computers of the early sixties pretty much were about the size of a barn. ~GaZoo
