WORKING WITH YOUR DRAGON COMPANION If you befriend a dragon to work magick with be prepared for a demanding time, your companion might seem to be a little harsh at times but it will always be in your best interests… Once you have a good working relationship with a dragon he or she will want you to learn all you can, it can sometimes be hard to keep up with them. Dragon Magick is not one of those things that can be picked up and put down again when you feel like it, it is a continuous learning experience that lasts a lifetime. Whilst working with dragons be sure to give them the respect they deserve and they will respect you. You have to have a two way relationship with your co-magickian, they are not going to do all the work whilst you sit back and watch! Treat your dragon companion as your friend, don’t just call on it when you need something but allow it to spend time with you. Mine will happily sit on top of the computer monitor when I am typing and curl up on my bed when I sleep. Your companion will like to feel wanted otherwise they wont see the point in hanging around. Remember that dragons can tap into more energy and power than humans can dream of and their knowledge goes back to the dawn of time. Be completely open and honest when working with dragons because they will know if you are hiding anything from them. Never order a dragon to do anything, always ask, after all you wouldn’t like to be ordered around. That is probably the easiest was to lose a companion, and if you annoy one dragon you will probably find that others will refuse to work with you too. It is possible to have lots of dragon companions around at once. It seems to be that once you have become close to one he or she invites his or her friends around to visit! You shouldn’t ever feel uneasy around your dragon companions but if there is one that makes you feel uncomfortable with it being around, speak to it. Explain the problem and politely ask it to leave you for now. After it has gone, look at why you had these feelings. The most common cause is the dragons colouring, for some reason people do not like black coloured dragons, usually associating them with evil. This is not the case! Some of the nicest dragons I know have black scales. Never, ever judge a dragon by the colour of their scales. Follow these simple guidelines and you should get on fine with your companion and any other dragons that come to visit. Remember you can talk to your friend, ask it about itself, get to know him or her. A welcomed companion will stay with you your entire life. © Tysha Dopson dmbh.org/portal/dragonarticles/2006...agon-companion/

The Elemental Dragons:
While there are dragons of all shapes and colors in the Spirit World, there are some dragons that you will encounter that have the qualities of the elemental energies of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. These dragons are extremely powerful and should only be summoned with a clear and justifiable reason. They are often impatient and do not suffer fools gladly. Each of the categories of the elemental dragons have a “ruler” or “king/queen.”
Fire: The ruler of the fire dragons is said to be “Fafnir.” In the Ban Drui tradition, this ruler is called “Useias” and is said to come from the land of Finias.
Water: The ruler of the water dragons is said to be “Naelyon.” In the Ban Drui tradition, the ruler is called “Semias” and comes from the land of Murias.
Earth: The ruler is said to be “Grael.” In the Ban Drui tradition, the ruler is called “Morfessa” and is said to come from the land of Falius.
Air: The ruler of the air dragons is said to be “Sairys.” In the Ban Drui tradition, this ruler is called “Esras” and comes from the land of Gorias.
Spirit: There are no common names for the Dragon rulers of Spirit, as they are combinations of all that is. There is an element of balance to these Dragons, however. They are often associated with Chaos and Balance. When calling in these dragons, make sure that both Chaos (change) and Balance are both summoned or drastic results can occur. In the Ban Drui tradition, “Aurabores” is the name used for these dragons.
The qualities of the Dragons:
The Fire Dragons are oftentimes red, black, copper, and burnt orange, or a combination of all of these colors. They resemble the color schemes of what one would find in a volcanic or burnt environment. These dragons can be extremely large, or midsize, but the power that they contain is immense. They are not to be trifled with. They will also manifest the qualities of their element. For fire, these qualities will be heat and dryness. They will embody a number of emotional qualities, related to their element, such as: Passion, Courage, Ferocity, Jealousy, Hate, Anger, Conflict, War, Rage, and Will Power. Their symbols are fire, candles, blades, noon, the sun, heat (of all kinds) and summer.
The Water Dragons are oftentimes blue, silver, grey, seafoam green, or a combination of these colors. They have the appearance of the color schemes of lakes, rivers, and oceans. These dragons can also come in any size, but contain all of the strength of rushing, drowning waters. They will embody the qualities of their element. These qualities are coldness and moistness, the powers of psychic abilities, dreams, intuition, love, faith, compassion, mercy, empathy, and forgiveness. The negative aspects of the qualities of this element are: insecurity, fear, uncontrolled emotions, emotional takeover of senses, damaging waters, sadness, and distorted messages of the psychic nature. Their symbols are the Autumn season, the chalice, water, and the colors of blues and silvers and sea greens.
The Dragons of Earth are green, black, brown, or a combination of all of these. They have the qualities of their element, which include: coldness and dryness, unmoving stability, endurance, respect, responsibility, material abundance, greed, hording, self-enclosure, stubbornness, failure to see other perspectives, acceptance and not accepting the value of others, earthquakes, and the power contained in that sort of disaster. Their symbols are the pentacle, dirt, clay or stones, the North, the Winter, and all natural gifts of the Earth.
The Dragons of Air are yellow, light orange, white, or a combination of all of these. These are, perhaps, the most conversant and friendly of the dragons. They are extremely curious creatures and are oftentimes playful. They have the qualities of communication skills, warmth and moistness, optimism, joy, frivolity, lack of seriousness, detachment, concentration and the lack thereof, playfulness and studiousness, inattention, forgetfulness, but also determined focus on mental faculties and their actions. Their symbols are the east, sunrise, spring, the colors of yellow, white, and light orange, incense, winds, tornadoes, clouds, the wand, breath, and the gong or bells.
