IOB
To be used when there is a desire to be rid of a certain habit, a frustration, or a concept, such as "racism."
Note: If at any time you feel sick, scared, or out of control, stop the exercise, as this is the mind's way of throwing up blocks as a safeguard, and more analysis on your part is needed before advancing along your path.
I- Identify: This means that you have to look at yourself and then decide which parts are no longer useful to you. This could be anything from uncontrolled anger to a bad habit, such as smoking.
O- Objectify: This step is where the creative process comes into play. You will construct an image of the identified "thing" that you wish to be rid of. It can take any form, but should be of a form that is capable of "life." Ideas include: a monster, a demon, a bird, a mythological creature, a fearful animal, an unknown presentation of a person that resembles the thing that is unwelcome in your life at this time.
B- Banish: The equivalent of an exorcism or voiding.
Step 1: Prepare a working area. Purify it, and then purify the self.
Step 2: Enter the meditative/trance state.
Step 3: Construct the image of the thing that is to be banished. Fuel it with as much energy as possible so that it takes on the life it needs to be removed from you. Be sure to name this creature, but always use a made-up name.
Step 4: See a rope, cord, or chain holding you and this thing together.
Step 5: Now, either take a blade, or use a constructed blade, and severe the connection between you and the creature.
Step 6: In the Golden Dawn tradition, the sign of the Enterer is now done, but feel free to use any type of aggressive stance to step forward this creature. Shout out, "Be gone!"
Step 7: Any specific religious or spiritual chants/prayers/mantras are to be done at this time, as you construct and project the shield wall around you.
Step 8: Point the blade (real or constructed) at the being, and tell them that they have been banished forever and can never return and that you are protected and shielded by the power of____________________. (Fill in appropriate term: the Force, God, Goddess, Divine Source, etc.)
Step 9: Visualize the being melting away and being lost forever into the Force.
Step 10: Slow the energy down, remain in meditative state and contemplate this moment... then slowly return to normal consciousness.
