While I'm sure that we can all agree that telekinesis is a true and viable ability, and that we probably don't need to discuss it's possibility of being true, I think I'll go ahead and leave this thread here and we can post the different techniques and training methods associated with it.

Jinsei said: By Rick Tobin - © 2005 Anyone can learn to move objects with their mind. This exercise will help you increase your telekinetic skills. * A glass quart jar with a metal lid * Thin black sewing thread * Glue * A wooden match * A small sewing needle * Modeling clay Instructions For Making The jar 1. Clean the jar and let it dry. 2. Cut the burnable tip off of the wooden match (be careful not to cut near the tip) 3. Put the wooden match on a block of modeling clay 4. Push the small needle through the middle of the match. Do this slowly, with a twisting motion. If the needle is too big, it will break the match. You may also put matches in water and microwave them for 2 minutes, to soften them before putting a needle through them. 5. Push the needle half way through the match. 6. Clean the clay off the needle and the match. 7. Measure and cut a piece of thread long enough to reach from the lid to the middle of the bottle. 8. Glue one end of the thread to the middle of the inside of the lid. 9. Glue one end of the thread to the top of the middle of the match, just above where the needle goes through. 10. Let the glue dry. 11. Put the needle, match, and thread in the jar and screw the lid back on. The jar should look like the picture above. How To Use The Jar 1. Put the jar on a table. 2. Stand or sit nearby so you are not touching the table. 3. Hold your hands, palms inward, about three inches away from the outside of the jar. Keep hour hands level with the needle. 4. Breathe deeply and focus your attention on the needle. 5. Move your hands a little, back and forth, imagining lines of energy moving from them to the tip of the needle. Direct the needle to move. NOTE: Practice this no more than 20 minutes a day. If you get a headache, stop the exercise. The headaches, usually even with the top of the ears, will go away. Results will take from six-weeks to six months. Best results occurred at night before sleeping. Yes, she is very famous. I think is the only scientifically proven case of telekinesis. But you should know she became very ill, of the heart I think, or whatever it was, she herself attributed her illness to the frequent use of her powers. Just a forwarning

Are such side effects unavoidable I wonder? I wish I could know other details of her life.

She attributted her illness to her powers, however, she might had been wrong, she was no physician or paranormal expert.
Around the internet there is a lot of people who claim to have achieved telekinesis. I must say I'm surprissed nobody here has made such statements.

Well generally the Jedi who say they have powers like telekinesis are role players, so if you had achieved it in real life you wouldn't spout it on the forums, it's not something people are going to believe without some pretty definite proof.

Yes, I guess you are right...
It's the problem of being so apart each one from another. If we could just pull us together from time to time, to share practical knowledge, would be great.
I heard someone around there is organizing jedi gatherings, but I think are just at state level and just like Myrrdend said, ´real world´chores and distances are huge obstacles to overcome.
Look at me for example, I am not even in the US, and I need visa for traveling to the US, where there is probably the highest jedi population and take place some jedi meetings

I thought there were a lot of Jedi in England. Does anyone know statistically where the most Jedi live?

There has never been a verifiable case of telekinesis performed under legitimate scientific conditions. James Randi has a standing offer of 1 million dollars for anyone who can demonstrate this....no one has claimed it.

The women from Russia was filmed. Back then Russia and America were in a Cold War state so we were not communicating with them in a friendly fashion for her to take the skeptics challenge. Besides I do not think back then Randi made the offer. It was first offered to the best of my knowledge in the 1990's. Because she was filmed there is possibility that she is in fact proof. In the book "Dragons Of Eden" Carl Sagan talks about the human brain. Sagan disagrees with a man named Galvani who believed in electricity and the brain. Sagan does give Galvani a fair hearing by explaining his ideas. He also talked about some sort of intermediary cell in the brain as a go between the electrical impulses and the other cell function. People like Tesla and Galvani believed that this intermediary were the "Mediclorones" to Force use. This intermediary thing is why Telekinesis is so rare, you need a combination of the right cells and a way to absorb more electricity than the usual human out put which is about 25 watts. Sagan would say we need to study it and prove it in a lab but Gaz I did not know that you are an atheist. It does need more study but here I agree with those who posted that people who actually have this ability hide it and do not flaunt it. I and 10 witnesses actually saw someone use telekinesis once but the person who used it if directly asked pretends not to even know what you are talking about if you ask her. She will deny it strongly and claim you to be a nut for even thinking it. Strangely she is not trying to get the skeptics million. I do not understand why she or any other person who can actually do something will not take the Randi challenge. If it were me and I could actually do Telekinesis in an observable fashion I would take up the skeptics offer. I am poor and am tired of being so and the million sounds real good to me. I could use the money.

LOL! Loretta, I'd be tempted, too, if I had the ability. Now, I'm not going to sit here and try to say that telekinesis doesn't exist or is impossible. Just because I haven't seen it personally doesn't mean it's not real. I would, however, be somewhat skeptical of anyone who openly claims they can do it. So would most people, which is probably why the woman you referred to prefers to keep it a secret. Beyond the obvious risks of coming forward -- like harassment and ridicule by religious fundamentalists and hardline skeptics alike -- there are other things to consider. If you had verifiable, repeatable results with telekinesis, that would automatically make you a target for recruitment by the government. Any government. And it might not be entirely by choice. On the other hand, I'd like to see ol' Randi get shut up once and for all.

The main problem with the Randi Challenge is that the criteria for meeting it is so hard that it's nearly impossible for anyone to actually take the challenge. The last I heard, they won't even talk to you unless you've demonstrated your ability on public television, have a list of witnesses who can testify to your ability, and then the test itself is called, "The one in a million mistake." which basically means that you're allowed a 1/1000000th of what they consider a mistake. In other words, they expect you to be able to do something like... recite the alphabet 38,461 times in a row, and you're only allowed to get one letter out of place in the whole thing.,
Personally, I'd pay to see someone like Randi take the challenge of reciting the alphabet that many times without messing up. I'd even bet with generous odds against him, simply because I don't believe that I could pass it myself, and I can prove and provide witnesses who can testify on my behalf that I can actually recite the alphabet. However, doing it 38,461 times in a row? I think I'd just get to a point where I'd be lucky to get half of it right.
And, as for reasons why someone wouldn't want to take the challenge... fear of criticism and government recruitment are both good, but you've got to take in the human aspect of it too... if you could control the roll of the dice or the stop of a slot machine, why would you want to go public, only to be banned from these places, where money could be like free candy to you? Even for the people who wouldn't use it for personal gain, but for helping others, if you'd been using an ability like that to help others when they were in danger, would you want to become famous for that? How many people might be offended that you were doing that? How many might want to challenge you to prove your skill in a life or death situation, simply so they could become famous for being the person to kill you?
Then, there are the people for which it is likely not a repeatable event that they're able to control. I fully believe that most people who have the ability, don't practice working on controlling it, so it appears as a fluke every once in a while. People may see it, testify to it being true, yet the person is unable to prove it themselves during a challenge.

Lithiniel and Myrrden Wolfheart Thank you for your comments. Lithiniel thanks for the humor and well wishing that you too could get the million. As to Randi and the skeptics society They are not being true scientists if they purposely make it imposable for anyone to even try to prove that psychic gifts are in fact part of science and physics and do operate with in the natural laws. If Carl Sagan were running the challenge it would be a fair test in accordance with science. It would still be tested with rigger and lab proven but you even if lost your case would feel that he was fair and just in his tests. Your ability to attract media attention should not be a prerequisite for proving telekinesis. A con artist can always get media attention but one who has a skill often times is unable to get media attention.
To be truly fair there should be mini tests that you do in front of a panel of Objective skeptics. If you pass the mini test then you go to the big tamale. You should not be forced to be 100% up to performance because all living organisms have their good and bad days. This should be taken into account like they do with lab rats. In short the tests should be done similar to how animals and other living organisms are tested. Humans are not machines like your toaster that perform perfectly each time you turn it on. This is basically how this test should be run. It lowers the scientific community if so-called scientists use tricks to prevent people from passing the test. On the other hand you can not skew it towards the religious end just to win because then you deny your self the real actual proof you are looking for. Balanced objectivity is what is needed. No one with an ax to grind can run this experiment.
